Here are some useful resources that you can find on campus
The Immigrant Services Program offers:
- Academic + ESL Tutoring
- Communication with departments/faculty on your behalf
- Personalized goals for every semester
- Peer mentorship
The Writing Center is located in the King Center room 425. They are open Monday 9-6pm, Tue/Thu 9-7pm, Wednesday 9-5pm, and Friday 10-4pm. They offer:
- 40 minutes consultations (appointment needed)
- 10 minutes quick questions (walk in)
- Help on all writing projects

The Tutoring Center is free to all MSU Denver students. They are located in the Student Success Building room 230. They offer:
- Walk-in tutoring in all subjects, individual and one-on-one
- Prepare for the Accuplacer
- Get help with writing, science, and other assignments
- Diagnose your learning style
- Improve your note taking skills
To find a tutor, stop by the front desk and ask for a specific tutor, you can also visit the Tutoring Center website to find tutors schedules, and to request one-on-one appointments.
Here are Denver-area language development resources
Emily Griffith offers several different types of English language programs. You can register for the classes based on your needs, and you can take classes from any of the programs simultaneously:
- Pre-Academic and Community English (PACE):
- PACE is our academic program. In these classes, you’ll improve your everyday English and focus on skills that will prepare you for community college, trade school and university. These classes are 8 weeks long.
- Career Readiness ESL (CRESL):
- CRESL classes are FREE English classes specifically for newly arriving refugees. You’ll learn English skills to help you get a job. Students in these classes MUST be refugees. Classes start every Monday.
Emily Griffith also offers a variety of different resources for immigrants and refugees, including legal advice, career assistance, citizenship classes, job training and more.

CCD English as a Second Language (ESL) pathway offers students a holistic and student-centered approach to improving English-language acquisition. The ESL program offers pre-college Community ESL classes as well as career- and workplace-focused language instruction.

Community ESL has 6 levels that all cover each of the major content areas in a single class. These courses are non-credit. These classes are offered in the Aurora Language Center.
Jeffco Adult ESL/Adult Basic Education classes are free!
- To join classes, you must:
- Attend orientation
- Take a pre-test before you begin classes
- Commit to 8 hours of class each week
- Agree to take a progress test before the end of the semester

Their English program has four different levels in which students can develop their pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, reading and writing.
The English Language Center in Centennial offer English language instruction to all students who would like to learn English, from beginners who know a few words to advanced students. The school has been in existence for 16 years, is affordable, and classes for many different skill levels.
