Rita and Navin Dimond donated $1.5 million, the University’s largest private gift to date. Their commitment was the basis for providing real-world learning opportunities for students in the Hotel Management Program for fostering excellence in future hospitality leaders.
In recognition of the Dimond family’s generosity, the Hotel Management Program was named in their honor.
“The values and the legacy of the Dimond family are rooted within the hospitality industry’s most respected,” said President Stephen Jordan. “Their support will help us provide transformational career training and educational opportunities for students. I can’t think of a better role model in the hospitality industry than Navin Dimond, whose personal and professional story speaks for itself.”
Dimond is president and CEO of Stonebridge Companies, widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading development and hospitality management companies. In addition, he is a longtime MSU Denver Foundation Board member.
A significant portion of the endowed gift created the Dimond Fellowship Program, which can fund 10 student-fellows each year.
“Our fellowship will enable deserving students interested in hospitality to excel in a rich and captivating learning environment,” said Dimond. “Rita and I are hopeful that this program will support all MSU Denver students in pursuit of excellence and those who strive to make the world of hospitality a better place.”
The donation was announced at a reception attended by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock.
