As the largest segment of the global population continues to age, the demand for graduates with an online gerontology degree or a related online nursing home administrator certificate or training in long term care administration will continue to outpace the number of qualified professionals in Aging Services Leadership. MSU Denver’s Online Bachelor of Science in Aging Services Leadership will prepare you for a role in the rewarding field of gerontology services and long term care administration. Graduates and certificate holders will gain a broad understanding of the field of aging services and long term care to qualify for administrative roles in long-term care (LTC), senior living, eldercare, long term services and supports (LTSS), and gerontology.

When you complete the Aging Services Leadership degree, you will have a foundational understanding of the wellspan and healthspan, physiological, and social aspects of aging, coupled with the skills required to implement patient-center care, including understanding the rising needs of our aging population, planning and preparation for the coming demographic shifts, long term care business acumen, and the role society plays in the aging process. As an MSU Denver Online student, you will gain hands-on experiences in the aging services sector through immersive classroom experiences, expert course content, and your personalized Senior Experience – all of which will prepare you to be an advocate for improving the quality of life and aging experience of our rapidly growing population of older adults.
The Aging Services Leadership Bachelor of Science degree is an online program. An online minor, online certificate, and online badge are also available.
Knowledge and Skills Acquired with an Online Gerontology Degree
Upon completion of MSU Denver’s fully online Aging Services Leadership Degree you will have the knowledge and skills necessary for an administrative or leadership role in long term care administration, nursing home administration, or other aging services leadership roles. These competencies include
- Identifying characteristics of older adults
- Describing shifts in population aging
- Recognizing stereotypes and myths surrounding ageism
- Investigating common health disparities in older adults
- Evaluating programs and services for our older population
- Recognizing topical issues surrounding aging and caring for our older population
- Applying the knowledge and skills that encompass the business side of providing aging and long-term care services
- Understanding the role patient-centered care and innovation plays in caring for our older population
- Recognizing and cultivating characteristics required for an age-friendly society
