Women’s History Month

Every March, the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion (CMEI), The Gender Institute for Advocacy and Teaching, The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the University of Colorado – Denver Women and Gender Student Services Department commemorates Women’s History Month. What began simply as a Women’s History Week in the United States has evolved into an entire month full of celebration, education, and commemoration of women who come before us. We celebrate this month with all who identify as women including, but not limited to women of color, trans-women, queer women, and all other marginalized groups of women. We hope to create co-curricular programing with our partners to highlight and amplify the voices of women who are continuing to create change as well as champion for women on the Auraria campus. On March 8th, we also recognize International Women’s Day. We want to acknowledge the oppression of trans, non-binary, gender-confirming, and women-identified individuals with emphasis on uplifting voices from the respective community. 

This year’s theme of Women who advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion honors women in every community have devoted their lives and talents to pursuing justice and truth in all aspects of our lives.  

The Body Project

Feminist State of the Union

Nervous about the upcoming election year? Not sure what you can do to make a change in local or national politics? Join us for Auraria’s first Feminist State of the Union event this March! New Era Colorado, an organization that works to empower young adults to lead political change, will be sharing information on the state of Colorado and the United States, as well as creating opportunities to talk about these important issues and launch us into action! Food and beverages will be provided.
