Four-Year Degree Plans

The four-year degree plans show how students can complete their degree in four-years (or eight semesters).

This document is meant to be used as a guide for planning purposes only and is intended for use in consultation with a Professional Academic or Faculty advisor.

Important items to remember when using these guides:

Catalog Year

Did you know you have an assigned catalog year that locks you into the requirements listed for that specific year? If you do not know what your catalog year is, this information will be listed on your Degree Progress Report which can be found under Web Services on your Student Hub.

If you are viewing program requirements in the MSU Denver Catalog, use the pull down menu to select your appropriate catalog year.

Transfer, Credit for Prior Learning, IB/AP

This schedule can be adjusted to accommodate AP, IB, and/or CLEP credits, as well as courses taken during the summer sessions. Students should tailor this plan based on transfer credit, course availability, and individual preferences related to course load, schedules, and add-on programs such as minors or double-majors.

Course Rotations and Cancellations

There are departments that offer courses on a rotated schedule. Please check with your department for an updated course rotation schedule.

Also, please keep in mind, that sometimes courses get cancelled. If you find yourself in this situation, please contact your Professional Academic or Faculty advisor right away. They will work with you to ensure you are making progress and taking the right courses.

Degree and Certificate Requirements

Did you know you must complete…

  • A minimum of 120 semester hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher for all coursework?
  • The Global Diversity requirement as part of your General Studies?
  • The Ethnic Studies & Social Justice (ESSJ) graduation requirement?
  • At least 40 credits in upper-division courses (3000- and 4000-level courses)?

If you didn’t, now you know! Please consult an advisor if you have questions about how these requirements may apply to your degree program or visit the MSU Denver Degree and Certificate Requirements.

Current Four-Year Degree Plans

Four-year degree plans are for the 2023-2024 Catalog Year only.

Your Progress is One-of-a-Kind

While these plans are a great way to start your progression planning, keep in mind, your plan is unique to you. Degree completion happens at the pace you set.

Important Items to remember:

  • Plans are meant to be used as guides for planning purposes only. The MSU Denver Catalog lists “official” requirements students must satisfy before receiving a degree.
  • Please consult with your Professional Academic, Faculty advisor or the MSU Denver Catalog for questions.

Note. For students interested in spreading out their progression plan and taking summer courses, please visit with your Department advisor for more information and personalized planning.
