About This Program

Denver is the 18th largest television market in the U.S., providing thousands of jobs and ample opportunity for growth. And while the journalism industry is constantly evolving to adapt to the way the news is distributed, the demand for multi-skilled journalists has remained consistently high for years. As a multi-faceted industry that requires technical know-how and the ability to be comfortable and confident in front of a rolling camera, broadcast journalism is no exception to this rule. If you’re passionate about telling stories and aspire to distribute visual news, MSU Denver can show you the way.

What Makes us Special

The Broadcast Journalism Major, B.A. prepares students for reporting, producing, and delivering news and news programs via radio, television and video. Instruction focuses on the methods and techniques for reporting the news, including the principles of broadcast technology, broadcast reporting, on- and off-camera and microphone procedures, editing, media law, and professional standards and ethics.

A good broadcast journalist makes their job look easy, but every anchor and field reporter will tell you that their job was very difficult to obtain. Through our curriculum, internships and hands-on experience, we’ll mold you into the best broadcast journalism professional required by the industry’s standards. Whether you dream of being in front of the lens, behind the camera or in the production booth, the path to your dream job in broadcasting begins at MSU Denver.
