Oral Communication
Pathway 1: Enter the workforce quickly. Complete the Fundamentals of Oral Communication course and immediately enter the workforce.
Pathway 2: Continue your academic journey and earn a degree in Communication Studies, which allows you to increase your earning potential. You can find jobs in journalism, business, marketing, public relations, and more.
Discover the art and process of oral communications in a range of environments and contexts. Using real-world scenarios, learners will utilize research-based tools to analyze communicative situations and develop effective, ethical messages appropriate to purpose, audience, context and medium. You will grow your communication skills in listening, assertive communication, self-analysis, presentations, and conflict management.
The Oral Communication online course is $450, with a $35 transaction fee per payment. There are no books to purchase.
Once you successfully complete the Fundamentals of Oral Communications online course, you can immediately enter the workforce with newly learned skills. You will receive a digital badge embedded with the competencies learned. You can include this badge on your resume, LinkedIn page, portfolio, or share it with an employer. Students will also receive a certificate of completion.

Dr. Eric P. James comes to MSU Denver by way of Texas A&M University where he received his Ph.D. in Communication. He is originally from Santa Fe, NM, having attended the University of New Mexico for his bachelors, double majoring in Communication and Spanish. He earned his M.A. from the University of North Texas. His research interest in organizational culture stems from his experience working for several large organizations including America Online, eBay, and Fastenal. Currently, he studies Organizational Communication and Wellness. He is particularly interested in how work shapes worker identity. His most recent research interests look at the wellness and fitness discourse in the workplace.
