About This Program

The minor in Africana studies at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) offers students an engaging curriculum that addresses various dimensions of the global African experience.

Students learn about the contributions of African-descent peoples throughout history and develop a critical lens with which to confront the challenges facing contemporary Black communities worldwide. Our faculty place top priority on providing a rewarding educational experience to all students.

The Department of Africana Studies delivers all the academic content you expect from a bachelor’s program while also bringing to the table everything that’s unique about MSU Denver’s people and Denver’s rich Africana community. Our students have the following unique opportunities:

  • Learn in small classes from published teaching scholars whose work is printed by leading academic publishers in the U.S.
